Images from Brazil (Analyzing)

First Picture

Framing: medium close up, can only see the clip board
Setting: all you can see is a clip board, this is because it directs the focus onto what is written on the paper
Speed: Partly blurred, you can clearly see the word Buttle (possibly an important character), and Receipt but the other information is too blurred to read when the film is in action.
Props: The stamps on the piece of paper shows that the “receipt” has been through numerous check/people and there are many sheets behind it, which tells us that it could be one of many important (?) documents.
Lighting/Exposure: black/dark background helps the white of the sheet stand out more. The colour also may represent the setting of the scene
Golden Rules: Buttle is right on the top horizontal line and the DEPT. of RECORDS works as a leading line for the shot

Second Picture

Framing: Long shot, showing the enviroment/setting
Setting: A busy work place where people are hectically running around.
Speed: Partly blurred, part of a panning shot, makes you feel like you are there and moving in the scene
Props: High tech computers with neon colours to make it feel like it are a sci-fi movie but the dress of clothing tells us that it was created a far few years ago. There are papers everywhere, and unorganised and broken – this show the condition of the workplace
Lighting/Exposure: No natural light (underground or in a secure building), white lights are placed directly above work stations in an organised order, light also coming out of rooms. We can also see a man due to most lighting and he looks like he is somewhat in control
Golden Rules: The golden triangle is used with a leading line of the desks and light coming out of the room. These meet at one person looking at documents, it also gives you a feel for the speed of everything that is happening

Third Picture

Framing: Medium shot, seeing man and M. KURTZMANN
Setting: In front of an office (important because the glass is frosted, and there is a name tag on the glass), most likely some sort of government orginization
Speed: It is all of the same focus
Props: The costume of the man (Suit and tie) shows us that a) that this is an old movie, b) that he is high up = hence the suit. He is also looking/holding an object that is too much in the darkness to fully decipher what it is. However the creases above his eyes shows us that it is something of importance and is concerning for the character
Lighting/Exposure: The frame is very dark. The only light is going to his right side of his face and coming from lights inside the room behind. The light on his face allows to see his facual expressions but not much else.
Golden Rules: He is standing on the left third and his eye level is pretty much on the line of the top third

Observations:
The Man in the first picture is show standing where he is standing in the second picture.
