Year 10 Creative Media Short
Film Production – Term 04 Mr Andrews
Task 5: Website and poster self-reflection
and evaluation:
Part
One: Discuss your feelings about the website, poster and promotional materials task:
1. Are you satisfied with the
final result?
Upon competing it, I was satisfied, through I would have liked to have added a trailer, but the loan laptops did not have soundtrack pro, which was the only remain of the theme tune I had. However, when I saw everyone else's, I believe that I could have done a lot more and made it more visually appealing on some of the pages.
2. Did the website require
more/less time than you originally thought?
It required the same because I have made a website before for an assignment, so I knew how long each aspect would take.
3. Would like to change any
aspects of your final project (layout, links, images, colour scheme etc)?
As I said, I would have liked a trailer, but I also think that I could have looked deeper into the theme and had other elements showing the theme on the site. Like scribbled notes on the side pages or actually have the blue butterfly shown on the site (apart from the case file).
4.
If you
could start the project again what would you do differently?
If I started it again, I'm pretty sure that I would keep it similar, however I would just add more detail and get more information onto the site, because other than that, I am happy with the site.
Part Two: Respond to each of the
following dot points (using complete sentences or paragraphs). You should
include as much detail as possible in your responses.
1. Discuss whether your website
and poster have turned out the way you pictured them?
I had pictured what the poster is, however I ran into difficulties in photoshop because I didn't succeed at making the background dark and tinting the characters a slightly different tone without making the layer cover everything underneath. So in short, what I pictured was to have a clearer faces of katie and skylar. But I am really happy that I accidentally found how to darken the edges and make if foggy looking because that was exactly what I imagined.
2. Describe whether your site and
poster clearly depicts the intended genre and describe some specific design techniques
you have used to achieve this;
I believe that my site does convey that it is from the crime genre, due to the naming of the links (e.g. evidence) and the case files that people do connect to crime, and private detectives. I think that the darker colours do signify that it is not a happy-chappy film, rather a thriller because of the dark edges of the poster that can be seen on the homepage.
3. Did you have all of the
necessary resources to complete your site and poster or did you create new
materials?
No, we went out and shot a few images on thursday afternoon so that we could have clearer images for the poster. Also I had an idea of what I wanted for the poster and I needed a different image to do so.
4. Describe any problems or
difficulties you encountered during the process. These may include; technical
difficulties, corrupt or missing files, difficulty using the iWeb software,
problems exporting files, sound or video etc;
Not too many that I couldn't fix. The only problem was the no connection to my sound file and just my lack of experience with iweb, but nothing too major.
5. Clarify how you made use of planning,
content-lists and the flowchart during the authoring process;
I first went and did a flow chart of exactly what I wanted on the site. From there I would fill in (still on word) what I would have, text wise in each of the pages. Then I went to powerpoint and created a brief little idea of how it could be structured but I soon went straight into iWeb, because I believed it would be better to orginise how everything will look, on the actual program I was to create it on. I then would add boxes where I was going to have images and then I would label the boxes (e.g. Skylar action shot) so I knew what to look for. (attached in the next post is the word document planning that I adjusted throughout the assignment)
6. Clarify any time-management
issues you encountered during the creative process and describe the steps you took
to improve in this area;
Not too many time management issues, I got a laptop out over the weekend and that gave me sufficient time to add the images and finish the poster. All the rest of the work I did in class.
7. Discuss whether you undertook
adequate and detailed reflection throughout your project.
I believe I did take "adequate and detailed" reflections throughout the assessment. Each reflection would discuss what I did, what went wrong, what looked good and what next time.
8. Have you provided enough
evidence to support your work? (Look back at your blogs/journals and think
about whether it looks like a whole terms worth of work);
Yes, because I would do a blog after every lesson. So it does look like a term's worth of work.
