FILM SYNOPSIS

Floor numbers at the top of a grey lift flash at a monotonous pace. 10, 11, 12, 13… Credits appear in the bottom right of the screen, showing the directors names. “DING” the lift stops at level 23 and the metal doors slide backwards to reveal the hallway and the films title. It then cuts as Katie walks out of the lift and turns to the first of a series of doors (whilst a series of actor’s names are appearing in the bottom corners of the screen.) Katie unlocks the door and enters the office. Sitting on the desk is Skylar, who pauses flipping through a folder looking up to Katie as they exchange greetings. Katie slides into the chair opposite Skylar and she is padded the folder. Katie begins to read through the folder. We see profiles of Victor Irving and Ella Tresimene along with images of a large diamond named the blue butterfly a chapel. Skylar and Katie discuss the case as the camera cuts between them. They both decide to start at the scene of the crime. They both walk out of the office and into the lift. The doors shut and cut to the next scene.

Outside a large building both girls get out of a red car and walk to the chapel. They enter the church and there is an alone girl in dark clothes praying at the back of the church as well as an organist playing with his head down. The organ plays as they walk up to the altar, which there is an empty box in the middle. Sliding on gloves, Katie closely examines the box while Skylar takes pictures. Working in silence, Katie sees a single hair on the glass and delicately picks it up and places it into a snap-lock bag showing it to Skylar who nods. They both exit the chapel while the person who was praying stares intently them.

Inside a science lab, Skylar is examining the hair under a microscope while Katie is impatiently passes back and forth. After a small period of time, Skylar pushes herself back from the microscope and explains (to Katie that) there was a special chemical on the hair and Katie finishes her sentence by saying that there is only one building that could hold that chemical. Skylar nods, they grab their jackets and head out the door.

Katie and Skylar hop out of their car walking past many orange roofed houses, they stop outside the door of one. Slowly they make their way towards the door finding it slightly ajar. Katie, who is in front, shoots a glance towards Skylar who nods and grips her gun. With a deep breath, Katie pushes open the door and both girls quickly make their way in, bringing their guns to eyelevel. After a quick scan of the room Skylar nods to Katie and goes off in a different direction.

Suddenly, a shriek pierces the air and Katie, now alone turns and makes her way towards the noise. As she turns the corner she sees a sobbing and beaten up Ella knelling at the feet of Victor Irving who is examining the Blue Butterfly diamond. “Well, well, well, hullo there pretty thing” Victor says in his rich Russian accent. The sounds of Katie’s heartbeat pound and she raises her gun at him. Victor places the diamond into his pocket and asks; “Are you sure you know how to use that thing”. With that Katie fires a shot at him, hitting the wall behind him. Victor looks behind him and chuckles, “your gonna have to do better than that”. He begins stepping backwards smiling at her but then stops as his head reaches Skylar’s gun. He looks around quickly but with no way out he sighs and places his hands behind his head. Katie, regaining her confidence, steps forward and takes the diamond out of his pocket and he just smiles at her.

It cuts to a few minutes later where Skylar is on the phone to the client and Victor is chained to the desk, still with a smug look on his face. “The client will be here in five” Skylar states to Katie who looks up and behind her. Skylar turns to find Ella holding a gun “and luckily for me, I’ll be long gone” she says, as she steps backwards towards the door. Skylar and Katie both look to their guns, but they are on the table – too far out of reach. Ella, now reaching the door, spins and takes off in a sprint. Leaving the door wide open. Skylar sighs and turns around, making her way towards her gun as Katie crouches down to Victor “you just stay put for a bit”, turns and stands up. Skylar passes Katie her gun and Katie takes it with a smile. “Ready?” asks Skylar, “You bet” replies Katie and the camera sweeps around to follow them at the door, they both leave and the door slams shut. The screen goes black and it cuts to the credits.
